We have a general rule here at MOBOTOYS and that is each exhibit toy should be a working and complete example of the toy. Here we break the complete rule. Why would we do such a thing?
Well this precisely engineered and built Arnold Tractor comes to us from the Arnold Co. of West Germany and like most post WWII German manufactured toys, they are HARD TO FIND. This one was found with the driver, steering wheel, Rear Tire Fenders, and rear hitch all missing.
Luckily we had a period correct steering wheel in the parts warehouse but finding driver, rear fenders and the rear hitch has been a problem. Given how nice the rest of this tractor is we decided to give it a pass on the missing fenders and such.
What is left is precision engineering slathered onto a childs toy in an over-the-top way which German Engineering is known for. From the large high quality rubber tires, to the working steering wheel to turn the front wheels, and from the Forward / Reverse gear lever next to the driver to the ARNOLD emblem on the front this tractor pleases the eye and is ready to work the fields (ed note: what about the missing hitch?)
Special Note: I just noticed the engine is completely different depending on which side you look at it. This really adds another level of realism not typicall found (it would be easier and cheaper to just mirror the art on both sides). Germany Engineering never fails to amaze me.
