Barber Bear is an awesome "on the job" character toy of the 1950s. Part of a larger series of toys that focused on "typical living" including Dentist, House Cleaners, Knitting, Reading, Pouring coffee, Eating, and on and on.
Turn on Barber Bear and he gets right to work with his scissors and comb taking a little off the top. The baby bear is loving the experience and shows it by looking into his hand mirror and then jumping and shouting with glee ... which of course motivates Barber Bear to keep on combing and cutting. Typical of all of these character toys is a base with litho that falls into its own "art" class. Be sure to check out the hilareous antics on the base of this one in the photo gallery.
Today Barber Bear is highly collectible as there is a small number of survivors and the topic and theme of this guy is highly desireable.
