Asakusa manufactured many highly collectible toys including many 'AstroBoy' toys, the 'Pleasant Kappa river monster' and many other cars, planes, and character toys.
Here Asakusa offered us a New Buick - Police Car edition. Based on a new body style from Buick we know of two "New Buick" cars offered; this police car with a flashing red light on top is one, while the other is simply yellow in color with "blinkers" on the hood in place of the flashing police light.
While not 100% metal, these are quality tin and plastic cars of the early 1970s merging old and new manufacturing processes. These are among the last metal battery operated cars before everyone switched to cheaper plastic toys.
